Project Description
Transducers and Transmitters
Selecting the right transducer for your application is crucial to measurement accuracy. Any field data collected are only as good as the transducer used for measurement. Available in a variety of options, there is a shock pulse or vibration transducer for every need.
Airius Wireless Vibration Sensor
The Airius wireless vibration sensor is specifically engineered for effective and sustainable remote condition monitoring of your standard production equipment. Providing warning of vibration-related problems as well as gear and bearing faults, Airius is ideal for remote condition monitoring of standard production equipment such as pumps and fans. Remote or inaccessible machines and equipment placed in hostile or risky environments are other suitable targets.
The Airius wireless vibration sensors are a reliable and high-quality remote monitoring solution with a very competitive lifecycle cost. By allowing for easy on-site battery replacement, Airius promotes sustainability, making it a smart choice for companies looking to reduce waste and environmental impact.
The Airius III expands the Airius family of wireless vibration sensors with a wake-up function that allows the sensor to respond instantly to vibration events between scheduled measurements, ensuring that important changes are captured even outside the normal measurement cycle.
The feature is particularly valuable in applications where operating conditions change rapidly or loads occur intermittently. When load events occur unpredictably, the wakeup function ensures that relevant vibration data is captured when it matters most.
Airius II and Airius III LTE-M – reliable, secure, and future-proof IoT solution
Airius wireless vibration sensor with data transmission via the mobile network is an ideal monitoring solution for equipment not covered by the plant’s local area network or Wi-Fi, such as rooftop fans, pumps, and motors in water treatment facilities, pumping stations, or hydropower sites.
The cellular connectivity standard LTE-M, developed specifically for IoT, offers superior coverage and penetration as well as solid, built-in security in existing mobile networks. Needing no extra hardware other than the sensor itself, getting started with the Airius LTE-M is easy and fast.
Airius II and Airius III Wi-Fi – straightforward installation and effortless setup
Using the well-established and stable Wi-Fi data transfer technology, Airius works well within existing IT environments. Besides Wi-Fi routers, the Airius wireless vibration sensors do not require any supplementary equipment. With the shortest response times in the segment, installation and commissioning are straightforward and fast.
The SPM Connect app, downloadable for mobile devices, is used to configure the necessary communication parameters. A cloud-based web app provides easy access to measurement data on mobile phones, tablets, and laptops through a user-friendly graphical interface.
Dual Technology accelerometer
The DuoTech® accelerometer is a single transducer solution used for vibration measurements or shock pulse measurements or both in combination. It provides maximum flexibility to select the best measuring technique for a given type of problem or application. DuoTech is an individually tuned piezo-electric accelerometer delivering excellent performance in a very large area of applications.
The new DuoTech II accelerometer family further advances SPM’s combined shock pulse and vibration measurement technology. The updated design increases mechanical robustness and ensures consistent measurement performance even in challenging operating environments. Engineered for greater flexibility, the DuoTech II family is available in multiple versions to support different application requirements. A new low-transverse-sensitivity version is especially well suited for high-precision applications such as rotor balancing.
The accelerometer is internally isolated in a Faraday shield providing maximum protection from ground loops and RF interference. It is IEPE compatible and connects to standard vibration inputs via twisted pair cable and MIL type connector. This facilitates easy integration into existing equipment and makes the accelerometer an excellent and cost efficient choice for retrofit projects. The nominal sensitivity is 100mV/g and the shock pulse measuring range is -12 to 75 dB.
Stainless acid proof steel housings and hermetic sealing make it suitable for rough environments.
The DuoTech is now also available with M12 connector and integrated cable!
To make installation easier, a new series of cables with pre-moulded M12 connector in class IP68 in fixed lengthes has been released with this, as well as a lot of accessories.
Transducers
Shock pulse transducers
Shock pulse transducers are used in all permanent SPM installations for bearing monitoring. They are installed in countersunk mounting holes on the bearing housings. A shock pulse transducer converts the shock pulses emitted by the bearing into electric signals. SPM supplies different versions of shock pulse transducers with several adapters and tools for installations anywhere.
The standard SPM shock pulse transducer is the 40000. For applications requiring cable lengths exceeding 4 meters between transducer and measuring unit, use the 42000 version, where the signal is stabilized for transmission across cables up to 100 metres long. Vibration transducers
The SOLID transducers are piezo-electric accelerometers of compression type, each individually tuned. Enhanced electronics and improved ambient characteristics deliver excellent performance in a very large area of applications.
The SOLID transducers and transmitters are designed to withstand the rigors of industrial environments. Stainless, acid proof steel housings, case isolation and hermetic sealing make them very robust.
Transmitters
The SOLID transmitters provide a 4-20 mA output signal proportional to the vibration velocity, across its frequency range. The output signal can be transmitted to common process control systems like PLC, DCS and SCADA. The transmitters operate using power from any standard 4-20 mA loop. No additional power is necessary.
Features of the transmitters are unique micro controller design and calibration data stored in the sensor. The measuring range is 0 – 25 mm/s and the frequency range 2-1000 Hz.
The SOLID transducers and transmitters all come with top connector for fast and easy installation. A special SOLID transducer with side connector is also available for use in rough industrial environments where moist and water may cause equipment problems.
Safety and Security
Connectors
The SOLID line of transducers is completed with a range of brand new, composite material connectors for TNC, 2-pin and SMB cables. Benefits such as corrosion resistance, vibration dampening and weight reduction make this design far superior to metal connectors.
Secure Installation
To further secure the installation, we supply twisted pair cables and uncovered, acid proof stainless steel conduits. These are protective covers slipped onto the cable and fixed to the transducer at the connector. Stainless steel cable clips are available for holding the conduit. For protection of cable joints from moist and water, a stainless, acid proof steel service box is available.
EX Versions
Shock pulse and SOLID transducers, transmitters and connectors are also available in EX versions, approved under the ATEX directive, for use in potentially explosive atmosphere.
The functionality and performance of the EX proof products are identical to that of their base model counterparts.
